A saxophonist in New York, a drummer in Trieste and a guitarist in Tokyo can compose and play together without worrying about copyright obligations and burdens thanks to Loudrights, a platform that revolutionizes the way in which musical rights are recorded and managed thanks to the use of blockchain.
The project was selected to participate in the MVP Factory acceleration program, an initiative created by Apply, Nana Bianca, StartupItalia and Radix as part of the TOCC notice of the Ministry of Culture that promotes innovation and the digitalization of micro and small businesses, third sector entities and profit and non-profit organizations operating in the cultural and creative fields.
The idea of Loudrights is by Giulio Centis, a musician who already in 2017 had opened an agency that dealt with multimedia projects and artist management and who, at the time of the pandemic, thought of a project that could encourage creativity and collaboration between authors potentially from all over the world.
“The path to get to Loudrights was long and not without obstacles, because it often happens that you fall in love with the first idea and that a setback is needed to be able to disassemble and reassemble it - explains Giulio - at the beginning I had in mind an “Instagram” of sounds, but today the innovative heart of the project is the use of the blockchain that allows you to link a file to a person in an inviolable way, the audio files are recorded safely and it is possible to develop a collaborative environment by freeing the creators from the complex copyright management different from country to country.”
The specialized platform is able to automate and facilitate the protection of rights in the musical field and by connecting musicians, producers, authors and other stakeholders, it creates a community dedicated to music where it is also possible to sell your tracks.
“The speed with which people surf the Net today makes creative exchanges easier and faster. The elements to expand the creative space are all there, what the project seeks to do is to respond to a market gap.”
