Are you still in time to participate in the new challenge of Door: “Tell us a love story from a movie, a song, a book or a work of art and tell us why it has a special place in your heart.” The best articles will be published on the platform, whoever gets the most “doors” wins and for the moment the prizes are gadgets with the theme of cinema, books, music and art, depending on the cultural sector in which you participate, but soon there will also be vouchers to spend on cultural activities and products.
Door is the platform created by a team of four university students who met in the classrooms of the Economics and Management for Art, Culture and Communication course at Bocconi University.
“We wanted to overcome the superficiality that we find in the channels through which young people today are informed and get closer to culture - explains Giacomo D'Aquila - we also wanted to propose a way that would not only involve passive use of the contents, but active participation and critical skills. We chose the name Door as a metaphor for a more direct relationship with culture that must be approached without reverential fear.”
Door is one of the projects that has been selected to participate in MVP Factory, the laboratory of ideas. The acceleration program dedicated to Creative and Cultural Industries (ICC) and aimed at encouraging innovation in practices, products, formats and methods through which the cultural and creative offer is produced and enjoyed in Italy is an initiative created by Apply, Nana Bianca, StartupItalia and Radix as part of the TOCC notice of the Ministry of Culture.
Thanks to MVP Factory's mentoring program, the Door project aims to develop the virtual cultural newspaper (opening the quote at the door of The Truman Show) in which user articles are published weekly on news in the world of cinema, music, books and art and its community shares and evaluates the articles. What links the two sections today is the challenge: every week the 5 articles that have received the highest appreciation from the community are published on the site's home page.
“We started thinking about the project last February when we heard about the MVP Factory announcement, participation in the program was fundamental and the feedback was immediately positive: on Instagram In 2 months we have collected 1,200 followers,” says Francesco Parisi.
Door is already looking to its near future and to a development in the direction of AI, as Allegra Sordi explains: “With Door, a Chat GPT plug-in will be created that will draw directly from the articles published on the site, allowing users to deal with artificial intelligence enriched with human sensitivity and critical issues.”
“For the moment, the community is at the center of the team's attention and the organization of future in-person events. Marianna Palmieri adds: “They will be an opportunity for discussion and encounter, a fundamental moment we think for every community, and precisely to reaffirm the fact that culture should involve active and not passive interaction.”
