The founder of the Hubble 8 acceleration program startup talks about the present and the future objectives of a project that reduces the environmental impact of paper receipts

Annoying when they fill the pockets, useful if you need to change the size of a jacket, certainly difficult to dispose of. To overcome the problem of paper receipts comes Recivu, a startup selected to participate in our Hubble acceleration program that aims to eliminate the “waste” of pieces of paper from payment receipts.

“The startup was founded with the main objective of reducing environmental impact, but I owe the idea to an ex-girlfriend who reprimanded me for not being able to keep the receipts to make returns or to indicate medical expenses in the tax return,” says Dariush Haghighi, founder of Recivu with already an exit behind him

The result is a startup that encourages the collection of digital receipts within an app through partnerships with the “cash companies” that manage electronic payment services to merchants.

“The cash models are based on closed systems, developed internally - explains Haghighi - Recivu has tried to overcome this technological barrier by developing a very simple product with APIs that can be installed very easily in cash registers, our ability has been to be able to close commercial agreements that allow cash companies to divide the profits of Recivu, which can sell its service to the network of their merchants.”

Merchants who agree to install Recivu will see the cost spent on receipt paper halved (the purchase of thermal paper costs merchants about 100 euros per month on average) and will be able to count on a series of customer information that allows them to analyze buying habits, better define user targets for social advertising activities and have direct contact with customers: “Our priority has been to hire a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to work in full compliance with privacy and regulations on data protection, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union.”.

But how does the Recivu service work? At the time of purchase, in front of the cash register, you will find a recycled cellulose cardboard with the qrcode indicated (in ecological ink). Just scan it to receive the receipt in digital format on your app and keep it there. The app also allows you to forward expenses to the accountant or even to produce courtesy receipts for gifts to be delivered.

Recivu's medium-term goal (within the next two years) is to connect the app with banks' online payment systems, even overcoming the qrcode scanning phase.

“Now we need to work on brand positioning - concludes the founder of Recivu - Thanks to the mentoring activity of the Hubble program, we will work on the development of data management and on the proposal of boutiques in the metaverse.”
